outside voices has a Bernstein e-chapbook forthcoming...keep your eyes peeled...

almost forgot, did a bunch of Agrafiotis translation revisions this afternoon...and can i just say that i love translating a living poet...i originally did 36 pages of a 90 page book (Chinese Notebook)...sent it to Demothenes, he sent my hardcopy back littered with notes and corrections...so, that's my summer project...get a working chapbook size excerpt of Chinese Notebook done and ready to see the world...Demosthenes is the the man...check some of my translations up at Fascicle (issue 2)...

Chris Murray on our itty bitty anti-movement...

"Hey, I just happend onto Francois Luong's very fun blog. Voices in Utter Dark, which at moment is variously questioning the (supposed) necessity of creating poetic movements (and then crashing/ dashing them). So then, how about that kaBlowism originating with Eric Gelsinger, Jessica Smith, and John Sakkis?—"sounds" to me like it has great inventional poet-tential...kaBlowkaBlamkaBlow,yeah!"

ouch...

sitting her drinking a can of Pabst in an attempt to cure my whiskey hangover...party tonight at Feliz's house...happy birthday Feliz...

last night was fun, weird...i don't think i have the energy to think about it...lot's of mischief with Sabrina in cahoots...most of it involving this dude called "FUCKIN' MIKE!"...as in "what's up guys? let's all do some Jager! i'm FUCKIN' MIKE!!!"...to which i replied "well, you look like "Fuckin' Sammy Hagar!!!" to which i thought he was going to reply buy punching me in the face but he bought us lots of shots instead...this dude actually did look like Sammy Hagar...he was wearing a black silk button up shirt that was emblazoned with 4 inch martini glass patterns...and the buttons, oh man the buttons on this shirt were, you guessed it, little silver martini glasses...he wanted to mack on Sabrina so we quickly concocted a story...she was my little sister...our father being Greek and mother being Colombian...after a while "FUCKIN MIKE!" couldn't help but remark about how much alike we looked...he was like "you guys have beautiful eyes (again with the eyes!), it's you're FUCKIN' eyes man, look at her fuckin' eyes dood, seriously, you guys look SO FUCKIN' alilke!!!"...then "FUCKIN MIKE" wanted to take a "family portrait" of me and Sabrina...
"FUCKIN' MIKE" was loud but mostly drunk, he was a dork but totally sweet..."FUCKIN' MIKE" eventually asked Sabrina out to dinner to which Sabrina agreed as long as her big brother Johnny (me) could go...he looked a little confused, mostly drunk, a little trapped and replied "fuck yeah, fuckin' Johnny can come!!!" yadda yadda yadda sort of anticlimactic, guess you had to be there...

Suspect Zero- the subject of the movie was sadly more interesting than the movie itself...remote viewing...psychic spies...very real phenomena/ programs sponsored by the government from 1975 to 1995...the extra stuff was fantastic, interviews with former government remote viewers, their psychic drawings and notes, info about their contributions to Cold War "RV target spying"...

read Spell and loved it, i hope Eric does another issue (noticed that one of my BOTH BOTH envelopes had been turned into a piece of masking tape art...it's the one with my chicken scratch handwriting at the top left...says half of my address and "Boulder"...

also read David Collier's Portraits From Life...DC is my new favorite comics artists/writer, another homerun from Drawn & Quarterly...

The Doors...

sitting here drinking a whiskey listening to The Doors...GAWD i'm such a cliche...

Six Feet Under Disc 2 Season 5- yeah, i mean, what can i say about the best television drama ever produced?

...currently listening to The Doors American Prayer...(pretty sure the critics have collectively agreed that American Prayer is a heaping pile of pretentious dog shit...keep in mind though, it was produced/ pasted together long after Morrison's death, AND i was 15 when i bought it...) (though for a real good time you should here Ray Manzerik's keyboard version of Carmina Burana...oh boy! that's a dusie)

i remember seeing Ray Manzerik perform solo at The Great American Music Hall in SF a few years ago...i was in The Doors heaven...i was a serious fan throughout my teen years...in fact, as embarassing as it is to admit now, i credit Morrison/ The Doors for my initial interest in poetry...that's a fact (laugh at me if you must)...so, seeing Ray live for me was tantamount to seeing a childhood god...

...after his performance Ray opened up the show for an audience Q & A...the best moment was when this fan asked what he (Ray) thought of Stone's The Doors movie...Ray replied "i hated it, that movie was terrible, i mean, why was Val Kilmer walking like that? [Ray demonstrates acid trippy Kilmer strut], fucking christ, Jim could walk like a normal human being..."...i thought that was prettty great...

if you want university tenure go over to jessica's blog and write a poem about animals and gods...

from an email from my brother who currently has a cold...

"i feel like ive just done a line of mashed potatoes...they're all stuffed up in my nasal cavity and surrounding my brain. if only i had some garlic bread and maybe some lucky charms"

dood. it's going to be 80 today...Selena just wrote, she want's me to go out with her tonight for karaoke...i don't do that shit...but, i do love Selena, and i do love drinks, so, i think i'll go and take some photos...and if i get perved enough maybe just maybe someone can convince me to do Jon Bon Jovi's Blaze of Glory...

...currently listening to Various Artists Ambient Spirit: Fire...

"wake up in the morning and i raise my weary head/ got an old coat for a pillow/ and the earth as last night's bed/ don't know where i'm going/ only God knows where i've been/ i'm a devil on the run/ a six gun lover/ a candle in the wind/ SHOT DOOOOOWN IN A BLAZE OF GLORY!!!"

...shit brings me to tears everytime...
