dance dance dance...

great news. a poem of mine was selected by the BFA department to be performed as a dance piece wednesday
April 19 at 7:30 pm on the Nalanda campus as part of their 'Embodied Poetics' Performance project.

so the stone was
silent too, it was
quiet on the left
—came, came big
on the right
along like nowhere
the right is pink
blooming wild/
no eyes, the cousins
God help us
they've got eyes
and meets another
the borrowed one
went into the
veil will recall
hang in front

...

not lost, yet
in spite of this
in their eyes
are and mouth
with glaciers
the Green-and-White the
I hear on this
underserved
the veil I
that was burning
on the stone where I
cousin, here we're
frozen I with
the Turk's-cap on left
you there we with
our sticks, our names
does intervene, but it's
the same the creature
has on on the left
those not loved
—who said "surging, glittering"
"coat and trousers"

said the moth “I saw a spider and the spider was a whipped spider”

said the island “we gather as we gain at the footfall I can’t remain protected”

said the balcony “people are killing each other in the streets my love, but it’s hailing”

said the dog “ he doesn’t come anymore, everything inside me now yearns for my daughter”

said the Indian “I wounded you? the city is full of corpses, for the Army, for the Magistracy, for you, you’ll be killed”

said the pop song “who would have know that a boy like him would have entered me lightly”

said the suicide-bird “splendid head, sturdy thighs, solid shoulders, we’re therefore relying entirely on you, but your orders aren’t getting through”

said Boss Sakkis “my skirt can be tucked up”

said Didi’s Kids Brandon (B.B.) “even if we let you have her to sing and spur on your district, the people love me, they listen to me, they follow me”

said Johnny Headquaters (J.S.) “I’d have loved to see her again…”

Oh, wow. Sounds like fun. Congrats. What kind of dance performance are we talking about here?

thanks...
i'm not sure...the dance program here at naropa is of the modern/experimental purview...so, i'd have to guess something in that vein...i'll post the poem as soon as i get off work...

now i have a reason to go to the bar tonight besides my thesis...
