flowers knockin' boots...

i think i'm dying of allergies...yesterday read somewhere that CO is experiencing it's highest pollen count in like 30 years...it's like a Disney movie outside, suddenly spring!...EVERYTHING is in bloom...flower sperm all up in my grill...it's a veritable pollen Bukkake orgy outside..."consisting of microscopic grains discharged from the male part of a flower or from a male cone. Each grain contains a male gamete that can fertilize the female ovule, to which pollen is transported by the wind, insects, or other animals."

saw Hot Whiskey on the small press panel at CU yesterday afternoon...they were good...Bin Ramke representing the Denver Quarterly wasn't (huh? Denver Quarterly? on a small press panel? i don't get it), he seems like a nice enough guy but man can he ramble...ramble for a long time, ramble ramble ramble, i had a really hard time listening to Bin yesterday...

Hot Whiskey is starting a reading series at Trident...that's good news...

i'm officially finishing my thesis this morning/afternoon...because it's officiallly due tomorrow...

...currently listening to Duke Ellington Black, Brown & Beige...

...i have female ovule for a nose...

Pollen Bukkake Orgy sounds like a great title.

Denver Quarterly on a small press panel? Yeah, sounds like Ted Kooser on an emerging poet panel.

bibliographies suck. aren't there programs you can download that will make the bibliography for you? congrats on getting the "real work" done though! great job!

I don't know what the Denver Quarterly is. I am so zoned out on the "major" poetry scene. Basically anything with a state name, "quarterly," or "review" in the title, i don't know, but i can guess.

this deep observation goes into my Big Taxonomical List of poetry zine titles.

well, bin ramke edits the denver quarterly...the DQ (not the restaurant) isn't all bad, it's the university journal of Denver University where a couple fine poets teach (sikelianos, ramke) and many study...it's just odd that whoever organized the small press panel decided to put a major university subsidized magazine on the panel...i think one of the reasons bin was rambling was because he had nothing to say to the topic, not really his fault but the fault of the organizers (on second thought, sort of his fault for agreeing to do it)...

i mean, here you have Michael Koshkin and Jen Rogers of Hot Whiskey and Michael Friedman of Shiny both great choices for representing the small press publishing scene coupled with i forget his name from Copper Nickel another university magazine (an undergraduate one at that) and the DQ (i think bin remarked that the DQ has 1200 subscribers...small press? right...)...bad bad curating...

oh and for those of you who haven't seen jessica's taxonomical list of poetry zine titles...well you're missing out...

oh and why not american drivel review? or brad o' sullivan's press for the panel...AND if you're going to go the university mag as representative of the small press scene (specious), why not invite someone from the best university mag in CO to panel, namely bombay gin (not a brag, just a fact)...hmmm...don't worry, i don't mean me...i mean celeste davis and luis valadez...

Actually, you spell it like this:

ぶっ掛け

I meant like this:

ぶっかけ

(Stupid Kanji conversion)
