yr wrong about THE DARK KNIGHT. don't join the silliman train of shitting on perfectly terrific movies just because they ain't "perfect". nothing's perfect! THE DARK KNIGHT was a fantastic movie-- smart and entertaining, and full of twists and speed, which is far better than most movies.
and THE X-FILES-- OMG! yes, fucking A.
not an action film. barely a sci-fi film. but fucking awesome. a real character-oriented, story-driven, down-to-earth movie. excellent. it resonates. they did a really fucking good job working around the whole messy problem of their own mythology.
i saw it at 1pm earlier today and i'm still thinking about it. if i didn't spend my last $10 to go see it today, i'd be down to see it again. but, so it goes.
the dark knight? more like the dark "one hour too long and two climaxes too many" knight.
SPOILERS!!!
the dark knight wasn't a drama, or a mystery...it was an action movie, a good action move, but nothing else...unlike batman begins i just didn't care about anybody besides the joker...christian bale was boring, michael caine was non-existant, magie gyllenhal? who cares...aaron eckhart blew (you can just SEE that guy memorizing his lines)...
where were the "twists" you're talking about...what twists? like when Gordon got killed and then he wasn't? big deal...speed? but not really, the movie played slow and obligatory, like the car chase under the freeway overpass...really? a car chase where a lot of shit gets blown up? really? that's interesting...?
and then the complete flip of harvey dent was rushed...i didn't buy it for a second...and his CGI face was really cartoony and out of place...at least they killed him off at the end...i was happy about that.
okay, maybe "wack" is exagerating it...i DID enjoy the movie, but like said, as a good actin flick with an incredibly original portrayal of the joker...as a comic book fan/ as a batman fan that ruled...
i was talking about THE X-FILES regarding "not an action film and barely a sci-fi film".
the twists, regarding batman, was how many climactic points it went up against and resolved only to find that it wasn't over yet and was still filled with a thrilling pace.
everybody else i've talked to though eckhart did a terrific job as two-face. yr in the minority there. but the flip was definitely rushed. i had to just let that slide.
i think yr pooping on it because yr expectations may have been raised too high. it's one of the best action movies and one of the best comic book movies out there. that's enough for me.
i was responding to your myspace comment...were you talking about the x-files on myspace too? if so i misunderstood, my bad.
definitely pooping on it because expectations were so high, no doubt...it's weird that people are fetishizing heath ledger to the extent that they're willing to over look some serious faults with the movie...i think when people say "the dark knight is brilliant" they really mean "heath ledger is brilliant as the joker and the fact that he's dead makes it all the more tragic and brilliant"...
the conclusion and then conclusion and then conclusions weren't exciting to me...like caitlin i think i was bored and ready for the bar...
we'll agree, good comic book movie...i just wish christian bale could've channeled the same energy he showed in the first one...or that the writers had given him more to work with...i feel like he was barely in the movie either...
it's really nice out today,
i'm about to meet up with a pretty girl in the park,
i'm in a good mood,
i love you log,
