SF hipsters in over their head?

and by "hipster" no one knows what i mean...

saw a girl yesterday on Hayes and Steiner looking beyond shaky...beyond "what the hell did i get myself into?/ this is nothing like riding a bike"...this whole thing kind of started (at least in SF/ are moped's a hipster fad anywhere else?) in the Lower Haight...been seeing "bike gangs" cruising around my neighborhood for close to a year now...they look pretty cool (in a hilarious way), cost about a G, are basically made from lawn mower parts, are convenient, and if you know how to ride a two wheeled motorbike are pretty fun...but lately the trend has really really taken off...i don't know, i'm starting to see more mopeds than bikes in the neighborhood (okay not really)...motorbike as fashion statement = recipe for disaster...fey hipster girls on mopeds = recipe for disaster...drinking all night and mashing home on your moped is not like falling off your track bike = recipe for disaster...plus they're really really loud...

personally, if you want to impress, to confuse transportation for high (low) fashion, you can't go wrong with Quadrophenia...just saying, now THAT'S a bike.

Plus, most of them are two stroke motors=ten times more of a pollutant than any car.

Mopeds are for mopes

I guess the trustafarians decided its better to spend 1k on a motorbike than 2-3k on a velo bike. Its easier on the knees, anyways.
