"Jonathan Marks is realizing now, at this most inopportune of times, how difficult it is to write about himself in the third-person. Still new to the Left Coast, Jonathan grew up in Virginia and spent the past four years in Australia where he received his BA in History and Literature from the University of Queensland. A self-taught artist, he displayed in numerous galleries while overseas, and has contributed work to several group shows (including the 10th anniversary art show for Chillin Productions at the Mezzanine) and live painting sessions since moving to SF. His freelance projects have included commissioned illustrations and paintings, as well as shoe and clothing design, and custom guitars and skate-decks. Reflections is a continuation of a theme consistent throughout Jonathan's work, as he attempts to consolidate the natural tendencies we have towards creating our own individual realities, with the fact that we must never confine ourselves to these tiny – literally Self-Centered - worlds. Jonathan hopes to make his world as large as possible. His favorite quotes often involve exploration, he is a fan of grand gestures, beards, and tattoos, and he hopes you enjoy the show."
