8. The Holy Forest Collected Poems Of Robin Blaser- Robin Blaser
UC Press
I have the "pentimento 2" broadside framed, "did he, did she look everywhere/ for the contentment/ of the word God—/ among puzzled faces/ herding the red cows—"
I have no idea why I skipped the big SF State event.
I can't remember if I bought this or if LRS gave it to me while he was working at UC Press. No, I remember now, I bought this along with Imperial San Francisco in one of those big UC Press online sales.
At Naropa's 2004 Summer Writing Program I had Robin sign my Black Sparrow edition of The Collected Books Of Jack Spicer, he autographed his essay The Practice Of The Outside. Later that day he gave a lecture called Language Is Love, after concluding his talk he then serenaded the audience with a rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings.
That was the same year Joanne Kyger signed my skateboard with a sharpie marker "hello from BO"...

Dude! This is one of my Top 5 SWP memories of all time. I also remember after Robin's lecture, during the Q&A session, some oblivious dude got on the mic and said he had no idea what Robin was talking about and he should try to dumb down his language to reach a wider audience. And then admitted that 'most of us poets here are just writing to pick up chicks'. I think Robin responded, "Pick... up... CHICKS?!"
Johnny, you are the wind beneath my wings.
XO,
Andy
that dude wasn't me was it?
"Pick... up... CHICKS?!"
I can hear Robin's voice while reading that...

HA! No it definitely wasn't you, Johnny. Remember sometimes Boulder street kids would wander or worm their way into PAC for a lecture? All I can remember was that the audience was mortified and he got a stern meditating to after the lecture.
How about a Top 5 SWP memories post?!
