just got done watching/ listening/ looking at Norma's Scout (Krupskaya 2005)...my mom bought it for me for christmas but i couldn't watch it until now because of my well documented computer problems...the book's format/media, photo collage with Norma's audio, is phenomenal...literarly in the phainesthai, to appear sense of the word...the seemingly banal city and suburb-scapes that bleed in and out through the reading are a bit unsettling, though unsettling is the wrong word choice... i'm still trying to think of the right one...contracted (stairways, portraits, signs) and expansive (skies, windows, portraits, oceans, books) at once, it's hard to localize the effect without being vague...beautiful somehow doesn't cut it...
after watching the disc once all the way through i decided to experiment...i qued The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld album to begin playing at the exact moment Scout begins...and guess what, eureka! a perfect match! who would of thought Norma Cole's Scout is to The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld as The Wizard Of Oz is to Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon?!...so, where the microdots at!?
this week is Cesar Vallejo week...5 pages here i come...
...currently listening to Odd Nosdam No More Wig For Ohio...
