No 1 Greece
currently listening to a very cool compilation of folk music recorded in the 1950's put out by Minos Records, No 1 Greece...i found this at my favorite record shop in the City, Recycled Records, at Masonic and Haight...a pan-Hellenic adventure featuring the traditional sounds of Crete, The Saronic Islands, The Sporades, The Cyclades, The Dodecanese, Ionian Islands, Korinth, Argolis, Central Greece, Epiros and Macedonia/ Thrace...my blue and white heart is all a flutter...
sadly i don't think i can make it, yet again, to the the 2008 Translator's Symposium on Paros...got the invite a couple days ago but they need confirmation of attendance in the next two weeks, an impossibility for me...Angelos might attend, him and his wife Anna might already be in Athens so it's really only a quick hop-skip to Paros. i miss Siarita Kouka, and i'll miss seeing Demosthenes. once again Susan Gevirtz along with the Greek House Of Literature is hosting and once again it's bound to be an experience.
i'm only two beers into my Sunday bender and three blog postings...i need to catch up.
ephemera...last night i watched Cube: Zero, the prequel to Cube and Cube 2 Hypercube...it wasn't that bad, certainly not as silly as Hypercube...it's what Hostel 2 sort of did, try and show the machinations of the machine (har!)...like Hostel 2 the movie had promise, they just needed to go further with it, the director lost focus somewhere in the execution (har!)...
yamas,
gulp,
